Abstract:

Inside this report, the energetic and economic saving potential achieved by intelligent sector coupling in residential buildings, is described. Without new business models the old and new photovoltaic systems will not be longer economical in 2021. It is differentiated between the scenarios "new" and "existing". The analysis is focused on the service area of the local electricity provider of Düren. The result of the market analysis shows that the expected market potential for energy management-systems is approximately 1180 pieces large for the time period between 2021 till 2041. If an old or new photovoltaic system is coupled with a battery storage unit, an electric vehicle and a heating system, the energy management system can increase the self-consumption composed to a standard photovoltaic system by 93.7 % (new) and 96.2 % (old).
With a load profile analysis with intervals of 15 minutes over a period of 365 days, the evaluation parameters like self-consumption rate, degree of self-sufficiency and the individual quantities for direct consumption, grid power consumption and feed in elec-tricity were determined. If the benefit of reduced tariffs should be continued, even due to self-consumption op-timization, a load switch can be installed between the meter circuits. The load switch is described in this report. Electricity consumption in new buildings increases by 26.3 %, while the total grid consumption falls by 24.1 % The energy management system is sold by a savings contracting. The local electricity provider of Düren gets 33 % of the savings of the private customers. In the economic analysis it is assumed that there is no inflation nor increase of cost for electricity.
For private customers, return of invests of 5.60 % (old) and 6.17 % (new) can be achieved. For the local electricity provider, return of invests of 5.24 % (old) and 16.97 % (new) after tax are achieved. Due to the positive results of this paper product development as well as testing and optimization of the energy management system should be continued. In further analysis, the potential of integrating meteorological and user-dependent data should be examined. Launching of the product is recommended for 2021.
