Abstract:

The transferability of computer games to areas of application, where entertainment is not (primarily) focused on, is examined in the context of serious games. One of the main areas is the supply of suitable conceptual and technological infrastructures, which can be used for a game-based education or advanced training by groups of people. At this point, there is some overlapping with the research area of computer-supported collaborative work, in which among other things the development of co-located collaborative workspaces is pursued. One of the concepts is to support the group processes in these working environments by large-scaled,high-resolution visualization systems, used as shared workspaces. This thesis examines how these systems can be realized and efficiently used for collaborative serious games. As a result, a co-located collaborative training environment will be presented, which is a computersupported environment optimized for game-based training programs targeting groups.
