Abstract:

Authentification by entering a password is the most widely used method of gaining access. Disadvantages of this method are, however, that everyone with knowledge of the password can gain access and that passwords, in order to be secure, have to be long and complex. Methods of biometric authentification are far more secure and need little effort, but currently available methods can have issues of privacy. Until now password aided biometric authentification by keystroke dynamics have been rather impractical, since long data entries are needed for the secure identification of the user. The combination of entering a password together with the biometric authentification by keystroke dynamics results in higher quality of security without any extra effort on part of the user. Within this thesis a password aided biometric authentification by keystroke dynamics is implemented into a FPGA.
