Language: German

Issue Date: 25-Apr-2019
Abstract:

The market of the so-called luxury foods is currently still being researched and only transparent to certain extend. Nonetheless, premium and luxury foods are increasingly gaining importance. The prod-uct category is located within a kind of gray zone between the distinctive luxury goods and the food market - two realms which cannot be more different in their principally marketing strategies. The re-sulting peculiarities of the product category luxury foods therefore implicate challenges for producers and entrepreneurs with regards to marketing. Selected sub-aspects of the marketing of both product categories must be broken down and combined. Important aspects in this context are therefore to be discussed in the following. It is important to choose the right marketing and communication channels in order to target potential buyers of the luxury segment. Subsequently, the desire caused by the prod-uct and the consumers‘ buying intentions must be influenced through specific product-, price- and dis-tribution-policies. Aspects of relationship and experience marketing based on the tool of storytelling can also strengthen long-term customer loyalty to the luxury products. In addition, also sustainable factors such as fair cultivation are becoming increasingly important in the luxury foods segment. Exam-ples of successful and interesting implementations of marketing practices are given by analysing strat-egies of Moёt & Chandon, KERNenergie and LAFINA Natural Beef.
This thesis shall conduce to a better understanding of the market of luxury foods and show peculiarities and challenges, entrepreneurs or marketing officers may have to face and inspire them to successful marketing strategies.
