Title: Vergleichsstudie zur Wirksamkeitsuntersuchung der Massendekontamination
Language: German

Issue Date: 18-Jun-2020
Abstract:

For the usage of a mass decontamination reliable and valid evaluations of the shower effectiveness are missing. The aim of this thesis is to observe the general effectiveness of a mass decontamination using only water as well as to evaluate the effectiveness of an animated showering protocol. With the use of fluorescent agent it is possible to determine the residual contamination with the help of UV-Light. For this purpose, trial participants (n= 47) showered 120 s under the mass decontamination. The spot check is divided into a treatment and a control group, so that the effectiveness of the animation can be observed.
The evaluation is separated in a surface survey and a thickness determination.
The results show an obvious reduction of the contamination, whereby the mass decontamination prove the required effect. In the study of the mechanical cleaning work, a correlation between the factors „time“ and „mechanical cleaning work” can be found.
The showering protocol used by study, has no positive cleaning effect. Thus the mass decontamination is a purposeful medium to decontaminate a big amount of people, who are contaminated with hydrophilc Hazard Materials. There is a need for further studies, including Hazard Materials with lipophobic reference agents. The assessment of the results is currently based on the results of the thickness determination, because they can be proved on reliability. . . .
